Malt whisky online would like to present the following frquently asked questions to help make your visit to our site as easy and enjoyable as possible.
If you would like to ask a question then please use the contact us page to email us.

1. Q I am buying a whisky for someone else and not sure what they would like can you give me some advice?
A. Unless you are certain that the person you wish to buy for likes smokey whisky play safe and avoid these - see our special gift bottles selection, there are lots of good gift bottles in there - Glen Ord is a great buy as is Old Pulteney, or even the Japanese Whiskies which are great - all these are attractively presented and are good quality but easy drinking whiskies (and none of them are smokey). The Invergordon 1965 is wonderful - I cant imagine anyone not being over the moon with it (although it is more expensive). For a younger person consider a slightly more "trendy" gift bottle - why not try one from Jon, Mark and Robbos range, Asyla from Compass Box or possibly a small batch bourbon.

2. Q What happens if an item arrives damaged?
A You must inspect your item when it is delivered - do not sign for it until you have checked that it is in good condition. If you find it damaged then write details of the damage on the paperwork presented by the carrier for signature - you must indicate to them at that time that it is damaged. We cannot be held responsible if you sign for the goods and do not note the damage on the carriers paperwork. Once you have indicated to the carrier that it is damaged and had that fact noted on their paperwork you should then contact us by e-mail to advise us of the problem, we will confirm the situation with the carrier then rectify the problem either by having the damaged item uplifted and sending a replacement or having the damaged item uplifted and providing a refund, or by some other means to suit your needs. The bottle seal must be intact when we receive it back.

3. Q How will I know if a whisky is too smokey for me or not?
A If you are not an experienced whisky drinker we would always advise to firstly try whiskies with some smokey flavours such as Talisker or Highland Park, then try something more smokey such as Caol Ila, then onto the really smokey peaty ones such as Laphroaig. Our notes about each whisky should act as a guide.- we urge customers not to be afraid to try smokey whiskies as they are so full of flavour and enjoyable once you get to grips with them, it can be an acquired taste that is very rewarding - hence the emergence of "peat freaks" - see Peat Monster in our gift bottles.

4. Q What do you mean by £7.99 delivery charge in the UK for orders greater than one bottle?
A For single bottles we charge £4.99 delivery in the UK, however if you order more than one bottle the maximum delivery charge you will have to pay is £7.99 - no matter what quantity you order.

5. Q Do your carriers deliver at weekends?
A Sorry no, only normal working hours Monday-Friday, they can however deliver to your work address provided you provide clear instructions when ordering.

6. Q Can the carrier deliver to a different address or third party?
A Yes in UK and Europe, but in USA the item must be signed for by the person placing the order.

7. Q Is there a discount on price for larger orders?
A If you intend ordering more than 12 bottles please use the "contact us" page to e-mail us and we will try to accommodate you. Alternatively email the shop owner: michael@maltwhiskyonline.com

8. Q Can you guarantee delivery next day?
A Normally yes within the UK mainland if you order early enough in the day and are willing to pay £7.99 for Royal Mail Special Delivery. To avoid any disappointment however we prefer you contact us first just to make sure - try telephoning us and we will do our best to give you a quick answer.

9. Q Can I pay by cheque?
A Sorry no - but we will accept Postal Orders as an alternative.
